This year, Children’s Day falls on 4 October, Friday. You can look forward to a long weekend of activities catered to the little rugrats. Don't know where to bring your kids to? Here are 12 activities in Singapore you should check out. Free, fun and enriching activities included, of course!

 1. CATalysts – A Promenade Theatre Performance

‘CATalysts’ is KidsSTOP™ & Singapore Repertory Theatre’s first-ever STEAM-themed promenade theatre performance!

Experience a story that helps children (and adults) understand emotions as you walk about from scene to scene guided by actors. You will also be given a headset to be immersed in the performance.

Following the performance, you get to be hands-on with science experiments in the Splashes of Emotions. This workshop explores different mystery liquids and colours and the emotions they represent.

2. Fight The Deadliest Monster

Over a million animals are killed each year when they mistake plastic waste for food or get entangled in plastic debris. Plastic waste in our environment never breaks down and never goes away.

Parents, make it your duty to teach your kids about the environment. Answer the call of the wild to fight the deadliest monster - plastic!

2.1 Fight the Deadliest Monster Pledge Wall
Monster-busters unite! Take simple steps to fight the deadly plastic monster. Pledge at Penguin Coast at Jurong Bird Park and Frozen Tundra at Singapore Zoo. Together, everyone plays a part to protect our wildlife!

2.2 Shore Debris Table
Witness the extent of plastic build up in aquatic habitats through the interactive Shore Debris Table. Participate in it to understand where the plastic waste ends up when it is not properly discarded. Decorate a card using the plastic pieces provided.

2.3 Recycle Racers
Race with your family to sort common household trash in the right bins. Learn how binning trash right will keep plastic waste out of wild habitats.

Watch Ippy the Scarlet Macaw, the bird park's Go Green for Wildlife ambassador demonstrates how to bin trash right to save wildlife!

3. Make Your Mark 2019

In celebration of Children's Day, indoor playground Playeum invites children, who like doodling, sketching and drawing, to come celebrate the role of arts in their lives. Besides the current hands-on exhibition I-Opener, there will be fun art activities, engaging workshops, visual exhibits and roving artists awaiting the young minds!

It is all about fun, friendship and imagination at the 17th edition of Octoburst!. Families can enjoy the arts with an exciting line-up of interactive performances and activities. There are free and ticketed programmes. Here are our picks!

5.1 PIParade

Everyone is invited to join in the PIParade as families troop down the waterfront led by the children’s mascot PIP and the young performers from both Kinderland Preschool Marching Band and Stage Ensemble, as well as the Maha Bodhi School Symphonic Band. 

Come dressed in your favourite PIP-inspired colours and don’t forget to check out the Festival Corner for a parade craft!

5.2 A Ladder to the Stars

7. Dance Games: Shake and Waddle

Gather your family members for 'Shake & Waddle'! It is a modern twist to 'Snake & Ladders'. Try to be the first team to reach the no.“100” spot on the 1-100 board by completing dance challenges with your team.

How to play?

Players will be divided into 4 teams. The leader of each team will roll the dice and on every number/colour (eg. 13 or blue), there is a dance challenge/mission attached to it. To win each challenge, all team members must participate in this dance activity, then the team gets to roll the dice again to advance on the board. If they fail, the team will roll the dice again to move further back. (eg. roll the dice 2nd time - 3, and you move 3 spaces back).

The dance challenges get more difficult as the players advance on the board.
