Where to Go and What to Do This June School Holidays?

The June school holidays are upon us sooner than we thought. Do not worry if you do not already have a plan. There will be plenty of fun and play for the kids even if you are not planning a trip overseas. Whether you are looking for fun activities, events or things to do with the kids, we've got you covered!

1. Pesta Ubin 2019

Pesta (pronounced Pays-ta) Ubin is a kampung-style Open House at Pulau Ubin. Pesta Ubin is the highlight of each year of ‘Celebrating Ubin’. This year's theme is "Support Ubin Business". The aim is to preserve the unique businesses that service Ubin visitors - from bumboats and vans to the local food fare.

Many Pesta Ubin activities are free of charge. Some do not even require registration. Simply come to Pulau Ubin and join the fun! Find a Pesta Ubin activity that suits your schedule and interest.

Always considered visiting Chek Jawa? There is no better time to do so but on 2 June 2019 during Balk Chek Jawa – the Chek Jawa Open House. Volunteer guides will be stationed all over the boardwalk to share about Chek Jawa's amazing wildlife. With fun activities for the whole family!

2. Singapore International Children's Film Festival 2019

The 9th Singapore International Children's Film Festival sets to educate, enrich and inspire kids through diverse and imaginative films. 8 collections of the best short films for kids from more than 30 countries will be showcased. Each programme is curated to engage your little ones in a fun, thought-provoking, and creative way.

3. The Circle of Life Festival

Hakuna Matata. Head over to Mandai for a day-to-night wildlife adventure. Meet the real animals seen in Disney's The Lion King like Mufasa, Simba, Timon, Pumbaa, the laughing hyenas and other favourite characters from Pride Lands.

3.1 Circle of Life Festival in the day

Look out for the first-ever themed trams with musical performers as they traverse through the real-life animal counterparts of Disney’s The Lion King characters. There will be interactive storytelling at three performance points. Learn interesting facts about Lions and the Circle of Life.

3.2 The Lion King Insta-worthy Moments

Be part of The Lion King scene and reenact movie scenes at these 3 photo-worthy spots! Remember to tag the zoo with #SingaporeZoo and #ZooCircleofLife!

3.3 Zoolympix: Circle of Life

For this year's Zoolympix, a series of African-themed activities celebrate the circle of life by showing that all animals are important in the African savannah. Pro-Tip: Bring along your Zoolympix lanyard from last year’s event and save $1.

3.4 Craft Activities

Be part of the beat in the Circle of Life Festival with your own DIY spin drums or try your hand at making your own animal face mask.

3.5 Circle of Life Tour

This Lion King edition takes you on a journey to meet the inhabitants of pride land. Get a rare opportunity to feed a cheetah, rhino and even meerkats. Then, witness the strength of the King with a lion tug challenge.

3.6 Circle of Life Festival at Dusk

The festival continues to Night Safari as drummers liven up the mood followed by Night Safari’s Thumbuakar performers and their fire-twirling skills performed to the beat of jungle drums.

3.7 Hyena Feeding and Keepers' Talk

Why are Hyenas always laughing? Hear the zookeepers share interesting stories and dispel misconception around Hyena’s bad reputation while watching them chow down during the feeding session.

3.8 A Wild Feast: Lion Feeding

Witness these majestic cats at their most active time – feeding.

4. Children’s Special at the National Museum: Get Curious!

Children's Special at the National Museum is celebrating the launch of their special publication for families, Get Curious! – The Official Interactive Family Guide to the National Museum of Singapore and they want you to join in their celebration.

During the whole month of June, you can explore permanent galleries as a family, and discover the exciting stories of highlighted artefacts through themes such as Animals, Colours, Shapes, Transport and Values. Visit the basement level to discover magical story worlds of the land, sea and forest, play on bouncy castles, discover toys of the past and share stories of what’s in your world. 

Tired of roaming around on your own? The whole family can join fun programmes such as character tours, theatrical productions, and engaging workshops where you can create your own wind-up toys and artworks. There are 11 programmes in total to choose from!

5. Dino Quest by Science Centre Singapore

Get ready to be transported into a long extinct world this school holiday! Join palaeontologist Professor V and her assistant Rexon on an immersive adventure to uncover the mystery behind the elusive Australian polar dinosaurs. You get to discover how different fields of science work together in a real-life dinosaur expedition and learn more about palaeontology and the process of fossilisation.

Curated by world-renowned palaeontologist Emerita Professor Patricia Vickers-Rich, DinoQuest spans across seven thematic zones that promise a multi-sensory experience unlike any other. This ambitious gamification creation blends the latest multimedia technology, from holographic mapping to augmented and virtual reality environments, with dramatic fossil displays and ancient backdrops.

6. Cold Storage Kids Run 2019

Introduce your children to the world of healthy and active living with Singapore's first kids-focused running event. The 2019 edition of the run will be accompanied by other fringe activities to help the kids unlock their potential. Who knows, they might pick up a new hobby or two!

7. Gardens by the Bay's Children's Festival 2019

During the Children's Festival this year, expect the Supertree Grove at the Gardens to be transformed into a colourful carnival filled with family-friendly games and activities, inspired by your favourite toys from Toy Story!

Some of the experiences festival-goers can expect to partake include Star Adventurer, where young visitors can race in self-driving cars in order to recharge Buzz Lightyear; and Bo Peep’s Adventure, a fun obstacle course for children to test their speed, agility and endurance. There will also be carnival game booths featuring Woody and Jessie. When the sun sets, get ready to be dazzled by a signature light and music show called Garden Rhapsody.

The highlight of this year's festival will be the Disney X Pixar’s Toy Story 4 themed marble run track - first ever in Singapore!

9. Camp KidZania: Young Artisans

Let your kids enjoy an overnight camp experience at KidZania Singapore this school holiday. Themed "Young Artisans", they can enjoy an immersive experience to glean insights on the skills and tools in the fabric and carpentry industries by sewing their own pencil case and assembling a photo frame.

In this 2-day 1-night camp, participants will also learn how to be an Animal Show Presenter, get a rare behind-the-scenes tour of KidZania Singapore, and the opportunity to take on the role of an Assistant Zupervisor.

At the end of this camp, your kids would have acquired vital life skills - communication, creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking - that will prove useful back to school.

11. Pokémon Carnival 2019

Exciting news for all Pokémon fans!

The Pokémon Carnival is coming to the Sentosa Cove Village and for the first time in Asia, all 403 Pokémon from the Pokémon region of Alola will be seen at one place - in the guise of standees!

Other highlights include the popular Pikachu Parade and meet-and-greet sessions in the evenings. There will also be various inflatables around the area, including a five-metre-tall Pikachu, as well as an inflatable slide and ball pit for the children.

You can also take part in the Pokémon Adventure, where you will need to answer questions in the activity booklet correctly in order to redeem a Pokémon plushie. There will also be various Pokémon-themed games at the carnival. Complete the 4 carnival games and stand to win a set of Pokémon stickers. All prize redemptions are applicable while stocks last.
