Where to Go This March School Holidays?

And just like that, the first term of school is almost over and the March school holidays (16-24 March) will soon be upon us. If you do not already have a plan for the kids, check out these must-go and super-fun activities that are happening in and around town during the welcome break!

Kickstart a week of fun with Ground-Up Initiative's (GUI) inaugural Farmers' Market. The non-profit initiative is the community behind Kampung Kampus, a low-carbon footprint community campus. At the farmers' market, you get to learn more about sustainable practices, going zero waste and supporting local.

Visitors can expect a wide variety of stalls such as fresh farm produce and handmade and natural products! You can participate in Kampung farm tours, play Kampung games and join curated workshops such as,

2. Disney's on Ice Presents Mickey's Super Celebration

 

This year's Disney's on Ice is set to break new ground ice with new characters. Moana and The Emotions –Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust– from Pixar’s Inside Out will make their Asia's debut.

Join Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy as they embark on an epic adventure with Mickey down memory lane. With some help from his friends and the audience, Mickey journeys through Disney World’s treasured tales with the hope of finding his all-time favourite moment.

You will follow Moana on her high-seas mission to find Maui at your own peril. Enter the wintery world of Arendelle as Anna and Elsa learn about true love being the most powerful magic of all and experience the mysterious magic of Fantasia as a Sorcerer’s Apprentice makes brooms come to life.

4. Celebrating Wildlife Series: Our Amazing Rainforest and its Biodiversity (A Biodiversity Investigative Workshop)

Fact: Singapore’s rainforest is home to an incredible diversity of living things. Giant trees stand tall, while the understorey is home to a multitude of ferns, creepers and climbers. High up in the canopy, colourful birds fly from branch to branch, while the mousedeer and horned frog live in the leafy undergrowth.

Spend half a day in the Singapore Botanic Garden and learn all about the amazing organisms that live and thrive in it. In this workshop, participants will go on a guided tour, make a wall-hanging craft and pot their very own dish garden.

5. Singapore Festival of Fun 2019

The third annual Singapore Festival of Fun is back and just in time for the school break. Expect international and local carnival acts of acrobatics, juggling and dare-devilry with revered stand-up comedic talent and unique activities by Nickelodeon.

From 14 to 24 March 2019, Clarke Quay will be transformed into a carnival showcase of street acts and engaging family-friendly games, promising immense fun and laughter for the whole family until school inevitably starts again.

5.1 Street Fest

Clarke Quay's Fountain Square comes alive with street performers from Covent Garden. Watch thrilling acts and death-defying stunts never seen before in Singapore.

This year, get ready to be thrilled by The Sergeant Majors (UK), the tallest 10ft tall walkabout act, Otto - The Master of Balloons and a classic clown act, Felicity Footloose - an acrobat who will hang upside down and juggle, Street Circus Canada, a nouveau high-energy performance duo and Ernest Magnifico, a pogo stick and stunt show performer from Australia.

Last but not least, Singapore’s very own The Annoying Brothers will also take to the stage with their cheeky Big Top acts. With so many stunts and acts to look forward to, this is definitely an event not to be missed!

5.2 Nickelodeon Fiesta

There is no better way to end the school holidays than a fabulous carnival of adventures! This is an experience you and your family won't want to miss. Play at the game booths featuring themes from the biggest Nickelodeon shows, such as PAW Patrol, Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants.

Get onboard the first-ever Nickelodeon Fiesta Cruise and get to know Singapore like never before, or register for arts & crafts workshops where you get to unleash your imagination by creating your own Nickelodeon masterpieces, painting your own lantern and creating flower garlands. You get to bring home your own creations too!

As if that is not enough, you will have the opportunity to snap pictures with SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star, Dora the Explorer and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Cowabunga!

6. Bubbling Talents Starters

Is your kid aspiring to be an actor, or simply has an interest in the performing arts? This introductory workshop, by Singapore Media Academy, is perfect for her to discover her creativity and potential. There will even be a performance showcase by the students on the last day of the workshop!

The school break is the perfect time for your child to be engaged in a whole range of stimulating art activities - from drawing to painting and craft work - that they don't normally experience back in school and the latest 2-day workshop by award-winning ARTARY plans to help parents with that.

For March 2019, learn about the famous superheroes and modern cartoon characters and their appearances in contemporary art and design. Paint Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and other beloved superhero portraits as famous artist Pablo Picasso would during his time.

Sesame Street turns 50 this year and you are invited to join the festivities at the Sesame Street 50 Years and Counting Celebration at Universal Studios Singapore. Get ready to party, play and learn at the biggest birthday bash in town with all-new interactive shows and exhibits featuring favourite Sesame Street characters such as Elmo, Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch and more!

8.1 Sesame Street Birthday Blowout

Come celebrate as the Hollywood and New York zones turn into party central featuring giant birthday presents, photo ops and colourful characters partying in the streets. In the afternoon, escape the heat and head into SS28 at the New York zone for a stroll down Sesame Street. There are plenty of selfie opportunities including one with the iconic Sesame Street sign. Design your very own trash can at Oscar's, dance with Elmo and explore Bert and Ernie's apartment. You can even meet the buzzing little Twiddlebugs!

In this special coding workshop, kids will learn how to use commands and blocks to direct their robot friend, Photon, to the treasure, avoiding obstacles along the way. At this illustration camp by White Canvas Studio, kids create their own storybook from scratch. They will learn the ropes of creating their own story, from creating an ideal character to planning and writing the storyline, illustrating and printing the images, and finish off by binding their own book. They will also learn the art of basic printmaking, introducing one of the many methods in printing; have hands-on experience in printing and binding their very own storybook.
